When did you start working at Impressions?

I joined the crew in June of 2017.

What made you want to work for Impressions?

I was looking for a place to work that had a friendly work environment, and I had heard lots of praise about working at Impressions from Alexa, who I became friends with in high school.

What is your position and what do you do when at work?

I’d call my position a sales associate. I work on restocking and cleaning the store, helping customers find the products that they are looking for, and just recently I have begun to work the cash register, too.

Where were you born?

Burlington, Vermont.

Where did you grow up?

I spent my first two years of life in Vermont and Oregon (so obviously I don’t remember anything of living there), and then spent 14 years growing up in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts (right outside of Worcester, MA) before moving to Saratoga Springs for my last two years of high school.

Do you go to school and if yes, where and what year?

I am a freshman at Skidmore.

What is your favorite hobby when not working?

I love to go to the dining hall at Skidmore with a bunch of my friends, grab a booth to sit at, and spend hours there just chatting and eating with each other. I’m also trying to get the hang of crocheting: my end goal is making a really nice scarf for my brother.

What do you want to be when you “grow up”?

I love biology, but I don’t yet know what I want to do in the field. The idea of being an ecologist interests me, but so does being a marine biologist as does being a restoration biologist. What path in biology I want to take is the big question I’m trying to find the answer to through the biology classes at college.

What is your favorite Impressions memory or story?

The first fond memory of Impressions that comes to mind is when I was working a shift with Carrie and Molly. It was absolutely pouring outside so there were practically no customers that day, and we had busied ourselves with dusting the glasses and shelves and whatnot. The three of us eventually started talking about our favorite movies and Carrie told me the wonders of a glorious movie called Dirty Dancing, which she and Molly praised and praised and praised. I had the next day off, so in the morning I watched Dirty Dancing, and then I watched it again because it was soooooooo sexy, and then I just had to stop by the store that day to tell Carrie how much I enjoyed it. And now I’d have to say that Dirty Dancing is like a bonding tie between Carrie and I.

What is something unexpected that surprised you at Impressions?

I really didn’t expect all of the managers and coworkers here to be as ridiculously friendly as they have been. It does often feel like a work family here.

What is your favorite thing at Impressions?

We sell a lot of greeting cards at Impressions, but one specifically is my all time favorite thing I have ever seen us sell. On the cover is a photo of a horse and standing next to the horse is a toned, shirtless, gorgeous cowboy. The inside says “I heard you like horses so I got you this card.” I nearly fainted when Carrie gave me a magnet version of the card as a present.

What is something that we may not know about you?

When I was much younger, I had a hermit krab which I very un-creatively yet proudly named Mr. Krabs, as I was a diehard Spongebob Squarepants fan. I even got him a Spongebob themed shell.

What kind of pets do you have and what are their names?

Two dogs: Bailey, a 10 year old male Silky Terrier (which is basically just an Australian Yorkie); and Mia, a 7 year old female Cocker Spaniel. We adopted them together through HOPE almost two years ago, and they have been the light of my life.
