Description

Saratoga Lake was popular even before thoroughbred racing came to Saratoga Springs. A train brought people directly to the lake for steamboat rides, rowing regattas, or a day of sailing. Today people enjoy Saratoga Lakes small beaches, restaurants, and many recreational activities it provides. Snake hill (as seen in the background) is still wild, though there are no longer rattlesnakes occupying it, in the 1800s there was a bounty that eliminated the entire population. The original potato chip, the Saratoga Chip, created by George Crumb was first served at Moon’s Lake House on Saratoga Lake.
